Until 40 years ago, there was a huge lake here, but in the '60s the Russians decided its water should be used for irrigating rice.
Today, the rice crops are gone, just like 90% of the lake itself.
These shipwrecks are located in Muynak, a former port city on the southern shore of the lake, which is now 300 km away (no roads, just desert paths).
